I bow to him who is great bliss, whose play is without end; the Great Lord, all-pervading, vast; beloved of Gaurī, father of Kārttikeya and Gaṇeśa — Śaṅkara, the first of the gods.
The invocation of the Śatarudra Saṃhitā — the book that tells of Śiva's many avatāras. “Whose play is without end” is a fitting door to it.
