मनोबुद्ध्यहङ्कारचित्तानि नाहंन च श्रोत्रजिह्वे न च घ्राणनेत्रे ।न च व्योम भूमिर्न तेजो न वायुःचिदानन्दरूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम् ॥
mano-buddhy-ahaṅkāra-cittāni nāhaṃna ca śrotra-jihve na ca ghrāṇa-netre |na ca vyoma bhūmir na tejo na vāyuḥcid-ānanda-rūpaḥ śivo'ham śivo'ham ||

I am not mind, intellect, ego or memory; not the ears or tongue, not the nose or eyes; not space, not earth, not fire, not air. I am consciousness and bliss — I am Śiva, I am Śiva.
भाष्य Explanation — our commentary, not scripture
Here Śiva is not someone “out there” to be worshipped but the very Self. The hymn works by subtraction: remove everything you are not, and what remains is Śiva.
This is the Advaita (non-dual) reading of Śiva. Other Śaiva schools, such as Śaiva Siddhānta, understand the soul and Śiva differently — we will show those views side by side.
